Frog in the Clouds Max has moved to the new city and he does not have a new friend yet. Max often goes to the park with his grandfather and sees a very nice girl, Bobby, but he is too shy to introduce himself. So with the help of Grandpa and his good friends Frog, Duck, Pig and Hare, he overcomes his nervousness and lack of confidence and those funny feelings we get when we meet someone special for the first time. Frog proves to Max that new experiences are exciting and nothing to be afraid of and Rat teaches Frog that everyone can be a hero and a friend. Frog in the Clouds is sure to delight audiences with the return of our favorite characters. From the beloved books of Max Velthuijs; Frog is Frog, Frog in Love and Frog is a Hero.

The Nutcracker The New Paltz Ballet Theatre returns for a 11th season to present this classic holiday event featuring principal dancers from the New York City Ballet. Peter and Lisa Naumann, co-directors of the NPBT have brought many fine regional artists together to create this beautiful production. Dancers, designers, and technicians have all contributed to make this Nutcracker a visual delight. Come along with Marie as she dreams of a fierce battle between giant mice and toy soldiers followed by a magical journey through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets .

Hip Hop - History & Impact Full Circle Soul, NYC WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4, 2009 at BARDAVON (Snow date February 5 ) 10am & 12pm GRADES: 4 - 8 $6.00 for schools and members $10.00 all others Every generation has made a contribution to music and dance and Hip Hop has become a major force in defining a generation. Since 1996 Quickstep and Rokafella, founders of Full Circle Soul, have presented uplifting and educational performances. Together they will take you on journey to discover the influences of Hip Hop - from African to Latin to contemporary dance. Explore the positive contributions this genre has brought to American culture, for many an opportunity of expression and escape from gang culture. In this 60 minute lec/dem performance you will witness the amazing choreography by these talented artists and have the opportunity to have a dialogue with them. |

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia will add to its acclaimed repertory of outstanding children's productions with an innovative double-bill adaptation of Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd's beloved bedtime classics, Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while The Runaway Bunny's pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mom. Both tales feature endearing rabbit characters, and the soothing rhythms of bunny banter and dream-like imagery that never fails to infuse young readers with a reassuring sense of security and peace. Whimsical puppetry and evocative original music will bring a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several generations.

Impossible Guitar With over 11 million views of his self-produced "Impossible Guitar" video on YouTube, Frasca is setting the bar for "the new guitarist". Frasca's rock driven style is easily accessible to students of all ages, while simultaneously complex and challenging allowing for a plethora of musical discovery. Armed with custom-built guitars and utilizing a state-of-the-art computer software system for audio processing, Dominic's on stage performance not only engages students with music like they've never experienced before, but also a down-to-earth humorous rapport. Stellaluna
Speeltheatre, The Netherlands WEDNESDAY APRIL 22, 2009 at UPAC 10AM & 12:30PM THURSDAY APRIL 23, 2009 at BARDAVON 10AM SOLD OUT & 12PM GRADES: K - 4 $6.00 for schools and members $10.00 all others Baby bat Stellaluna’s life is flitting along right on schedule until an owl attacks her mother one night, knocking the bewildered little bat out of her mother’s loving grasp. The tiny bat is lucky enough to land in a nest of baby birds, but her whole world has just turned upside down. Stellaluna’s adoptive bird mom accepts her into her nest, but only on the condition that Stellaluna will act like a bird, not a bat. Soon Stellaluna has learned to behave like a good bird should. She quits hanging by her feet and starts eating bugs. But when she finally has an opportunity to show her bird siblings what life as a bat is like, all of them are confounded. Anyone who has ever been asked to be someone they’re not will understand the conflicts and possibilities Stellaluna faces.

| YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL This marks the 14th year of the Young Playwrights Festival. Each year the Playwrights have surprised and stunned audiences as they tackle every subject imaginable, ranging from family drama, death, divorce, and even existential angst. Crawl inside the heads of 6th grade playwrights. It’s a Shakespearean ride. Tragic – moral – funny – magical. To be or not to be – these kids always are. Staged by professional actors and designers and presented in association with the Poughkeepsie City School District. |

Hudson Valley Philharmonic Young People's Concert
TUESDAY MARCH 17, 2009 and WEDNESDAY MARCH 18, 2009 at BARDAVON Our goal is to enrich the lives of children by exposing them to beautiful music. We hope you will join us for this original concert. The interactive concert and hands on residency activities will engage your students through creative exploration and active musical participation. Developing your students' natural musical competence will assist them in becoming successful listeners, and awaken their interest in the many ways music plays out in school learning and life.
