HUDSON VALLEY PHILHARMONIC 2009-10 SEASON
The 50th Anniversary continues with Yefim Bronfman, Anne Akiko Myers, Van Cliburn Medalist, Plus 9 High Definition Broadcasts Live from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera & Itzhak Perlman's Kingston debut!

(Poughkeepsie, NY) The Bardavon is excited to announce the Hudson Valley Philharmonic's exceptional 2009-10 season. This season continues the celebration of the orchestra's 50th anniversary. It was 75 years ago that the Dutchess Philharmonic Community Orchestra was founded by four local amateur musicians and 50 years ago that conductor Claude Monteux elevated the orchestra to a fully-professional ensemble, renaming it the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. This also represents the HVP's eleventh year under Bardavon management and the sixteenth under the music direction of Randall Craig Fleischer.

Recent seasons have been as star-studded as any at the New York Philharmonic with solo turns by Andre Watts, Joshua Bell, and Yo-Yo Ma. The coming season will be no different featuring the artistry of several celebrated soloists including the renowned pianist Yefim Bronfman, the extraordinary musicianship of violinist Anne Akiko Myers, New York Philharmonic principal trombonist Joe Alessi and the winners of the Van Cliburn Piano and HVP String Competitions.

The five symphonic concerts of the 2009-10 season spotlight 20th century compositions by Ravel, Bartok, Prokofiev and an adaptation of Mozart by Wynton Marsalis as well as classic compositions of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Verdi and Debussy. This versatile mix of drama and romance creates a sensational variety of powerful concerts, each accentuating the orchestra's superb musicianship. In addition to the symphonic concerts, the coming season showcases some very special events - the legendary virtuoso violinist Itzhak Perlman will make his Kingston debut at UPAC in March and beginning in October, the Bardavon is very pleased to announce that with the extraordinary support of the Jane Nuhn Charitable Trust we have installed the projection equipment and have been granted the rights for 9 High Definition Broadcasts "Live in HD From the Metropolitan Opera".

The Bardavon is also thrilled to continue to highlight Elizabeth Schulze, the HVP's Principal Guest Conductor who will return to lead the orchestra for November's Brilliantly Brahms symphony event.
